The Resting Place

"Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him." Psalm 37:7
"Where will my resting place be?" Isaiah 66:1, Acts 7:49
God wants you to rest in Him, and He wants you to be His resting place. He wants to fill you with His Presence, His Love and His Peace. God wants to speak to you, encourage you, love on you, refresh you and strengthen you. He wants to spend "quality" time with you. He also wants you to find rest in Him. Jesus says, "Are you tired? Worn out? ... Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest" (Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)).
The Resting Place is not only a place to come when you are tired or worn out but it is mostly where you go when you want more of Him. It is a place to hear His voice and learn from Him. It is a place where to lay down your own agenda and allow Holy Spirit to minister to you. It is a place where your Heavenly Father spends quality time with you and affirms your true identity in Him.
The Resting Place is a safe place to experience God and be transformed.
Have you ever waited on Him, expecting He would show up and reveal Himself to you?
As we sit quietly or even lie down, as we listen to anointed music and focus on Jesus, His Presence comes and immerses us in His Love. This is an experience that many refer to as 'soaking'. It can also be called 'waiting on the Lord', 'contemplative prayer' or 'tarrying'.
What Is Soaking?
Soaking is putting everything aside to connect intimately with the powerful Presence of our Father God. God wants more than five minutes fling. It takes time to build a loving relationship. It takes a conscious effort to make God our priority and allow him to have quality time with us.
We spend most of our lives doing things and expecting something in return. Whether it be for money, recognition, acceptance, love or any other type of reward, we eventually end up with a void in our hearts. This void gets filled when we learn to hear His voice and allow Him to strengthen us. Out of this experience of being immersed (soaked) in His Presence, we can Arise and shine in a renewed strength.
"But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don't get tired, they walk and don't lag behind." Isaiah 40:31 (MSG)
The Resting Place meets every Wednesday night from 7 to 9pm at Dominion Outreach Centre (DOC).
You are free to arrive at any time of your convenience and leave when you want.
When you come to the Resting Place, you enter into an atmosphere conducive to encounter God.
Soft anointed music is playing. The lights are soft and the atmosphere is quiet. The evening is not about a format but solely about God.
You can sit or lie down on the chairs or on the floor, whatever makes you comfortable. The ministry team may pray, share a testimony, a word of encouragement or a teaching but this is dependent upon the leading of the Holy Spirit. Usually, the ministry team will share about the intimacy with God, His love and kindness and our identity in Him.
The ministry team will pray for you silently as they place a hand on your head or your shoulder. Feel free to the let the ministry team know if this makes you uncomfortable. The person praying for you may share a prophetic word for you.
The resting Place is a place where lives are impacted and transformed; where hearts are revived and kindled with a passion to trust and love God.
Pierre and Anne-Marie were introduced to soaking about ten years ago through Catch The Fire (CTF) Toronto, previously named Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship (TACF). Discovering the Father's heart and having a deeper relationship with their Creator became their life's passion. Hearing God's voice and allowing Him to direct their path soon became a lifelong quest where they discovered that there is always more!
Pierre and Anne-Marie received various training with CTF Ministries, including the Soaking School, International Leaders School of Ministry and Training The Trainer, to name a few. They attended and ministered in various conferences at CTF Toronto. They are currently regional CTF soaking coordinators for Quebec and south-east Ontario. They opened a soaking centre in their home of Gatineau, Quebec, in August 2008 and launched the Resting Place soaking ministry at Dominion Outreach Centre (DOC) in August 2009.
